Written June 22, 2012 He's come by river highway He's come for all you know Time is of the essence Effervescent evanescence Go and find the River Man He's come to take me away Softly, swiftly He's come to take me today Tell him all you can To try to stall a man Slowly fade away Into all tomorrow's yesterdays Better reach for the sky As you're fixin' to die And pray subtly to the lord River lay down your sword Go and find the River Man He's come to take me away Softly, swiftly He's come to take me today Drowning ever faster Sinking into plaster To cover painted dreams That lie beneath my seams Is that the way the river flows To end undoing souls From all they yearn to reach Snapped when time beseeched Go and find the River Man He's come to take me away Softly, swiftly He's come to take me today Oh have you heard the news The river's been cut in two So now it's time to choose Down which path I will peruse
