The Thorn In My Side
Humoring her concern, I said, "Ok, I'll try, But I knew that was not how I wanted to meet a guy, She knew my heart belonged to her brother, That after he died there was no other, A piece of me died the day that he had gone, For many years I just couldn't move on, Years went by and then I eventually tried, To move past the heartache but he was still the love of my life, The guilt and burdens I had placed upon my shoulders, That if I couldn't even help him how could I be good enough for another, The pain in my heart as I questioned my own worth, His sister was the only person in my life who understood this hurt, I now know all the guilt I was feeling inside, Were all lies holding me back in my life, I intend to fight the good fight, To give love even with a thorn in my side.
