Time Out
Time Out I'm still around, I’ve not gone far, I'm sorry but that's how things are. It's just that now I have no time, To sit around and voice my rhyme. But now I'm working ‘twenty-four seven’, So staff, like me, can live in heaven. My mark I'll make upon this role, Until my people find new soul. I really must make my confession. It's not a job... it's my profession. To help all love to earn their pay. And turn their tasks to fun all day. A manager's role when said and done. Is only served when hearts are won. To lend a hand to, to guide the way, Though I'll admit... to make it pay. So yes, right now, no time for rhyme. But I'll be back just given time. I'm busy making my job work, Enjoying life... I may not shirk. But then, when muse has had a rest, And at my work I’ve filled my quest I'm sure again I'll raise my pen And words will start to flow again. Ivor G Davies This poem was written by me several years ago when I had taken over control of a thousand plus engineering field work force who hated their jobs but mainly the Company! It took a few years to turn this around by re-educating mainly directors,,,but it can be done and was! This poem served as an apology to the sites I was then posting on. I have, however, reworked this as it was originally posted deliberately as a 'disjointed' poem' to suit the struggle.... Ivor, I have posted the 'original' poem below to show poetry is a living thing and can be revised. I'm still around, I ain't gone far. It's just that now I have no time, To sit around and voice my rhyme. I'm sorry but that's how things are. You'll notice now this poem's disjointed. My new found work just gives no breaks, I'll stick at it, that's what it takes. Untill my ways have been appointed. Although I'm working twenty-four seven, My mark I'll make upon this role, Untill my people find new soul. Then they, like me, can live in heaven. I really must make my confession. To turn others tasks to fun all day, And help them love to earn their pay. It's not a job, it's my profession. A manager's role is to support. To lend a hand to, to guide the way, Though I'll admit, to make it pay. He only wins when hearts are caught. So yes, right now, no time for rhyme. I'm busy making my job work, Enjoying life, I may not shirk. But I'll be back just given time. And then, when muse has had a rest. I'm sure by then I'll feel my pen, And words will start to flow again. But with fun, I'll fill my quest. Ivor G Davies
