Once Upon a Time
Once Upon a Time, The world was bright and full of hope, And my happy ever after, Only came after my eyes were closed. You see, once upon a time, Was a promise that pain was in the past, And happy ever after, Was the promise that happiness would always last. But here's the sobering truth, A "happy ever after" is a masquerade, It covers the ugly truth, That pain is forever and happiness is a facade. You see, once upon a time, I was a child who loved his life, But as I grew happiness was dropped from my vocabulary, And my world became centered on strife. Once upon a time, My life wasn't hanging by a thread, And the demon called depression didn't whisper, Your better off dead. Once upon a time, I didn't have to lie, Telling myself "it gets better", When all I want to do is die. In my last moments, I realized the truth, That a happy ever after wasn't meant for me, That my soul was too twisted and broken, And my personal demons would never set me free. Once upon a time, I believed that I would get a happy ever after, But it wasn't until I was ready to close my eyes, That I realized my story would only end with suicides echoing laughter.
