The Rising
The Rising Rising from the ashes from life out of control. Clinging to the remnants of what is or was my soul. Picking up the pieces strewn so far about. I'm no longer looking for what I've been so long without. Peace, it washes over me and flows into my veins. Like heaven waters flowers every time it rains. Strength filling me from somewhere for now that I can't see. Begins again my journey rising up to being me. Shadows that once plagued me that hid my heart and mind. Chased away by sunlight and then left far behind. Reaching for the future the place we call tomorrow. Soon you'll see there will be me the master of my sorrow. With my travels far from over my life far from completed. No more time for me to waste I stand here undefeated. Bruised and sometimes battered bent and so betrayed. I came I saw I fought the fight I did not run. I stayed. Edwin C Hofert
