Lament For Days Past
Time heals all wounds, I remember the first time I heard those bitter laced words oh so many years ago on the day as black as night. I remember now all the things we used to say, and all the places we used to go without a care in the world. I remember my days as your champion, and you my muse, locks of gold and eyes of emerald hues. Eyes that held such strength and yet great need as we made our way through the swirling mists of time ever linked by entwined hands. Things have been hard sense your parting and though i miss you every day I look back and wonder.....was it fate? Was it fate that led you to me on that hot summer day as we took refuge from the heat amides the stores as we boasted and played. I still look back on that day as one of the best of my life, the day I met the orphan who carried the salt of the earth as if it were her own. Its been such a long time now and yet it feels like only yesterday that I held you in my arms as your shining star....And even with you gone I look to the sky in the cool evening air and hope.....That I can be that star you thought of me...and the adult I'm expected to be.
