The Grass Is Green Again
The grass has turned green again Parachuting life in our wounded hearts Grass buried underground for decades Is sprouting from the root once more Blades standing tall and strong Embracing the hopeless ones. I heard a tiny whisper and then These words from an old hymn Enunciated repeatedly in my ears “Hold on to God’s unchanging hands Build your hopes on things eternal Hold on to God’s unchanging hands” I got out of bed and looked around but no one was there. The words resonated louder and louder forcing me to silently hum the tune And join the mystical voices in the room. The words were powerful and clear I’ve waited more than ten years to hear It was divine sacred and comforting and embodied a message that was extremely empowering. So I braved the eternal morning And sang those words aloud in the open air. I walked merrily along the path in early morning breathing fresh air and singing this old hymn from the depth of my heart. Never before had I felt so much peace It’s as if something more powerful than I could imagine was leading and guiding me For the first time I felt the universe in total harmony. Something was overflowing inside me The stains were washed away and abundance was flowing my way, I could feel it, I could smell it and I could taste it. I have just uprooted a giant hindrance That has been suffocating and blocking my prosperous flow of energy and replaced it permanently with a brand new day. The wind cannot overturn it, the water cannot damage it and mankind cannot touch it. it is permissible, honorable and boundless. I could hear happy chirping birds from afar Reminding me that winter has packed up and gone The fresh smell of blooming flowers circulating through the atmosphere Uniting people together far and near. The flowers were amidst this tasteful bliss Entertaining the singing birds as they linger around the glorious buds injecting new hope in life once more. I watched the earth soaked up the bruises The green grass engulfed the pain and devoured all the shame. I felt an untouchable exhilaration resting upon me I experienced a joy that was unspeakable It’s a joy that is noticeable; it’s a joy that is lasting. Open your windows wide haven’t you noticed? The grass has suddenly turned green again. ©2015 Christine Phillips
