Seeking Flowers
The lady dressed in sexy black. She roamed the city streets seeking. Beautiful men she collected like flowers. One dark eve, a lovely man dragged her away. He had his way. He ran away. Days passed and soon she knew there was a child. Within grew a baby flower. Pale and weary. Confused, she gave birth. Alone. She left the baby in an alley. Crawled away. The days were long and guilt her friend. Searching each passing male face for the beautiful. Weeping upon a bridge, pleading to God, she let go. Floating down into nothingness with thoughts of fairies and handsome princes and lions leaping. And Jesus holding her baby in Heaven above. . . A passerby kneels beside her broken body and in her last breath, she whispers, are you the father of my baby, my love and then death and peace drapes over her. _________________________ April 2, 2015 Poetry/Free Verse/Seeking Flowers Copyright Protected, ID 04-659-172-02 All Rights Reserved, 2015, Constance La France For the Standard contest, Tam Lin, sponsor, Debbie Guzzi, Judged 05/2015 Second Place
