Dragon Meets Wolf Creek Pass
Dragon Meets Wolf Creek Pass (Inspired by CW McCalls’ song ‘Wolf Creek Pass’) On a trip to see Dragons’ friend Drag, way out… in Texas… Crossing the plains, in a caravan filled with, all our little blessings. Missouri to cross, ‘The Flat Lands or Bust’… We gathered no moss. Then, all in the trailer asleep, Dragon decided to drive. ‘Crazy BLEEP!’ Dragon, the impatient thing, took us, way out of the way, that day... Of course, he’d a done better, if he could read, a map, in any good way. Besides a Volkswagon Bug, Pulling a big trailer, wasn’t very stellar… But, Dragon went up Wolf Creek Pass! With us still asleep… As those… Dumb cluck Trolls! Helped him by Pushing us up, to the top of the pass. Look out you guys, it gets messy, from here… Plus no moon in sight! So we stayed in the dark as Dragon embarked on this, not so smart lark. He sent us down several switchbacks, that could easily, have torn us apart! Truckin’ down hill, gaining speed! Well! Living is highly over rated! GEE! The brakes gave away, as we swerved thru, the first switch back, that day! In the first seconds, WHAT can I say? Thrown from our beds, Rudely awake! Tough to wake up, as bouncing rag dolls, NOW, Dragon decided to Panick! Caterwaulin and throwing fire, he sure knows how to, make things better. While, spinning onto the shoulder, he gave the penguins THE steering wheel! But, it wasn’t attached! DRAT!!! We glanced off a boulder, or was it a tree? As the DANG ROAD turned into a winding BLEEP of winding hairpin turns! ‘Hair Raising’ switchbacks, I attest, NOT a delight! What! You had guessed?? This was really, not the way, to tour the Great Divide! SOOO… Lord help us! I threw the Trolls out the back, screaming to hang on and to Plant their feet. Then, pull the front wheels up, to steer from behind? Hey!! We wanted to live! Their tennies were a smoking as we threw out more trolls… Just then… A tunnel slowed us down, as the trailer top came off, yeah! What a mess! We lassoed some trees… That blew out of the ground, but at least we found… A little more Drag… As ‘LORD A MERCY!’ That trailer learned, how to fly!!! Yep! We’d missed a switch back and flew through the sky! Oh My!!! OH MY! The trees we skimmed, slowed us more! As we found, the end of the road! Thank You, Lord! Faith restored, we barreled straight toward Pegosa Springs! Yep, toward some old Feed Store, which looked like it’d been hit before. We stopped in time!!! Tho our Volkswagen now adorns, the old Feed Store sign! And Dragon had screamed fire all over its side! ...So THAT visit we promised… Well… Maybe next year… For now The Law, has Dragon and the Trolls busy… Stomping out, FOREST FIRES, while dancing to Drags songs. May take a while! My friends… The End… Sigh… Is it over yet? Gee I hope so! Dumb Dragon! I’m going back to bed! Where? In that tree… What? Let Dragon find his own bed! YOU REALLY think HE learned a lesson! Did YOU HIT YOUR head? Sigh… Night! … Night!
