The Unexpected Visitor
It was a regular summer afternoon, dull & dreary, Generally the mood around was tired & weary, When suddenly the sun disappeared from the sky, And black clouds from end to end began to glide. To everyone’s surprise for it was Feb end, The rain Gods seemed to be setting a strange trend, For without any kind of warning nuzzle, There began a gentle incessant drizzle. Soaked in were the unwary by the sudden shower, While ominously the black clouds continued to tower, A flash of lightning, a lone thunder growl, Amazed further the bemused souls. Me in the meanwhile having been drenched too, From my window now soaked in the mesmerizing view, Saw the beauty, experienced the rains, Felt the atmosphere with all my senses. The glowing sky, the glistening trees, The birds in them looking ill at ease, The fragrance of wet soil overpowering my mind, The weather was of a hypnotic kind. The crisp cool air so fresh to breathe, With an occasional whiff of a gentle breeze, Raised up in me a joyous thrill, As did the rain drops bouncing on my window sill. At night though in a tone subdued, The gradual pitter-patter continued, By which into sleep I was gently lulled, As into blankets I remained cuddled. The morning was a sight to see, The weather was calm, the rain had ceased, The air was bracing & cool to sniff, Awoke all my senses with its one whiff. And the sky, it was such a ravishing sight, Looking intensely fresh and bright, The nature in general looked so clean, As if through a laundry it had been. At this point I saw towards the horizon, Where among the multitude of clouds rose the sun, And as its golden aura it spread around, I stood there – one soul – silent & spellbound.
