Exhaustion of Living
The hands on the clock move slowly forward My tired ears listening for the sound of breathing Listening, waiting for the sob that means I am alive That ends the silence the sound of hope retrieving Dawn breaks, my grey face looks up from the pillow "Morning cariad" I whisper through battled breath Sorry I kept you awake my darling Angels Didn't want to succumb to the powers of death The pain would go if I forsook this life Yet the horror of losing you, to lose control Each pain in the night feels like a surgeons knife cutting away more flesh reaching my very soul The exhaustion of living makes life so precious waking up each morn to a breath so feathery please keep me this day calm not fracious If this is my last one make it a good memory Penned March 5 2015.
