Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required Under communist rule child is born He does not know that in that very rule children from their mothers are torn He feels happy in every life’s little thorn It is somewhat difficult but he feels no scorn For meat coupons are needed and lines stretch forever The lines are just as long for butter however This is no hopeless endeavor For every children’s day boy feels he will rock forever They say America is land of the free But when he gets there he finds out freedom is not free He remembers old book he saw when he was not much older than three He read this book at seven and was amazed by its beauty The book talked about distant lands and other food for soul Even do all things considered he was not bad kid they often said his own soul Was black as coal But books were refuge place to free the troubled soul One thing he remembered in this book was sign of peace Children of the world coming together in bliss Now in turmoil of twenty first century this book he will miss The old stories and history he will reminisce One thing about his book was a picture of greenhouse but not one with food The house was full of very rare tropical plants and in the center Victoria lily stood Just a picture noting special this picture could But he could almost smell the Victoria lily and ancient wood When to the gardens here in Chicago he went He could see real Victoria lily and smell it’s sent But he has not forgotten what this book meant And about whole earth he could read to his heart content But earth is not enough void to fill And old wounds in his own heart to heel But so will be divine will That reflection of his own will in Victoria lily he will feel What mind can do is sublime More than can be said in this simple rhyme It is a tough mountain to climb But at the top there is past realization final echo of time.
