The Concert
The Concert I was scheduled to perform in an accordion concert, I was just 8 years old as I recall, There was a contest to see who can invite, The most guests to come to the hall. My dad invited the whole family, All the gals and all the guys, The grandparents, aunts and uncles, To increase the odds of me winning the prize. The orchestra performed the last selection. We all did well and felt quite proud, The conductor motioned to the members, To stand up and take a bow. After the audience applauded, the conductor Asked us to take our seat, So all of us sat down, All of us, except for me. My mom tried to get my attention, By waving up and down her hand, She tried to get me to sit down, But I didn’t quite understand. I finally got the message, But my embarrassment didn’t last too long, I was just relieved when I realized, That I played my final song. My stomach was a little upset, I could have used some Tums, But I felt better when I won the contest And my prize was a set of bongo drums.
