Touch the Clouds
Life changes, shifts, moves A young boy looks at the clouds, Seeing possibilities and fantasies Cotton Candy at the fair Castles, horses, and knights Feathers and fingers moving endless Thinking he would like to touch a cloud Life changes, shifts, moves Pushing toward manhood, The teen no longer looks up but out Asking questions aloud and in his mind His future lies before him No longer an illusionist Imagination lends itself to bra size Life changes, shifts made, movements slow The man has seen both sides now The fantasies and the realities The good and the bad, the soft and hard Now, he looks up to see the weather changes The clouds reflect his changing moods Waiting for clouds to cover the sun’s heat Life stabilizes, shifting upward, few moves The elderly man remembers the halcyon days Laying back on the grass holding his girl Alone now, the old man’s memories are uneven Today, he sees his beloved’s face smiling down She is waving to him---His tears are true Again, he longs to touch the clouds
