Magic Beans
The haggard white bearded man pressed the beans into my palm Firmly folding my hand over them with a Fatherly squeeze And with a Wizards twinkle in his bloodshot eyes he quietly pleads "Take my son, to a secluded place of your choosing and listen, For only in solitude will the beans speak to you, And once spoken your destiny shall be revealed." I softly placed the beans into my leather sac, hanging from my neck And began my trek,to a place only known to me A placed Ive envisioned since I was three I was half way down from the mountain top Sitting in a small cleft within solid rock, Anticipation, Fear, consumed my thoughts, and there I waited days And the beans spoke not. My mental state decayed, my body frame lean Wasting away for a bunch of beans. " A lie, " I screamed, " oh what a fool I be, Believing my destiny within these beans.' I'm to weak to descend now, my body so frail I eat the beans as sustenance so I will not fail It seems days I sleep, I know not how long I awake in a valley so far from home Streets are paved in gold, there's fruit on every tree People pass me by , They all are bowing to me So confused from my state, perhaps still I dream Then a maiden takes my hand, She says, " Come my King" I'm lead to a castle, stretching to the stars And inside there's a throne with and emerald sheen A throng of thousands shout , "Hail to the King", They place a crown on my head , They dance and sing. The maiden sits next to me, crowned as my Queen, And this my destiny, from a bunch of beans
