''And So Must I''
She was having a heavenly day amongst swaying flowers, When a north wind swept her up, swirling and twirling; Tumbling, she lay there trembling on a tree branch, Under the safety of cool emerald leaves. Below, a raging stream flowed on it's forest journey, Blue butterfly wings frozen in place, broken; Waiting to die, she listened to the birds twittering brightly, And watched the sun fall behind a distant hill. In the night the wolves sang to the yellow moon, Her weary eyes closed and she dreamt of gliding; And in the morning the sun touched her wings of blue, Delicate hues, only the Lord could create. The sun rose high in the bright azure sky and still she waited, To die, then a soft caress touched her and lifted her up; And a blue butterfly hovered, hesitating then was gone, For on this day, the Lord had mercy. For the Lord treasures even the smallest of creatures, "And so must I" . . . _________________________________ January 26, 2015 Poetry/Pastoral/"And So Must I" Copyright Protected, ID 01- 6360-28-26 All Rights Reserved, 2015, Constance La France Submitted to Premier contest, Early April 2018 sponsor, Brian Strand Fifth Place _____________________________ Written for Standard the contest, This Is The Day The Lord Gave, sponsor Verlena S.
