The One I Miss
The one I miss You left our family recently it's only been a few days You were always my favorite aunt You have always been so special to me. I enjoyed our talks, you knew what to say You knew my dreams and what I'd want You were the one that called me tunia and made up a silly song to sing whenever I was sick or injured I always called you Auntie Conna You had an answer for everything and always used compassionate words I loved your butterfly kisses and warm hugs I loved being with you but you lived so far away You made my childhood fun when you'd visit You'd always help me collect my lizards and bugs. I always tried so hard to make you stay I'd cling to you so you knew you'd be missed I wish I could cry and shed some tears It's been so long since they flowed I thought by crying I wasn't being strong But you understood and calmed my fears. You loved my poetry that changed As I'd grow You helped me learn and see when I was wrong. I want to have you back with us But I know you'd still be suffering in pain You were always so careful to hide it away Not wanting pity or anyone to fuss You'd suffer quietly and never complain I know we'll be together again one day I'm so glad I called you recently To wish you a happy birthday and filled you in on all the news You were so pleased to hear from me. No matter what I would have to say With you, I felt that I could never lose So now I'll hold you in my memories
