He Asked Me To Dance
Last night I closed my eyes and I began to dream. I had on the most elegant gown and you were staring at me. You were clear across the ballroom and our hearts locked instantaneously. It was the night of a lifetime and you asked me to dance. I had baby’s breath in my hair and a corsage of snapdragons. When I saw your warm caring eyes I began to see the night in a whole new light. My dreams inched from uneventful to an enchanted fairy tale. I had been waiting for this night my entire life. He took my hand and invited me to dance. He smiled his warm smile and my heart sank into the sunset. The waves of my emotion overtook me and soon we were suddenly dancing on the tip of a most majestic rainbow. The prisms of light enraptured us and we could not comprehend how we even ended up there. The entire universe became alive and the stars sang in three part harmony. Even the sun and the moon joined in on this most festive occasion. What did it take to steal my heart away? All he had to do was invite me to dance. It was my clue that he was in on this for eternity. I had waited a million years for this invitation. It all began when he extended his hand to dance. Gwendolen Rix 12-11-14
