The Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas and I was alone, I looked out the window so eager and scared, Eager for presents he'd give me when here, Scared that he'd give me a big lump of coal, My fright was much larger and stronger than hope, And when I was sleeping I only saw sins, Of all lies I had said of all wrong I did, Of when I borrowed brother's pen and never gave it back, When I killed sister's hamster and hid it in dad's lab, All of the wrong and all of the sins, they raced through my mind as nightmares do when- And then I woke up and looked all around, I was hot I was thirsty, My lips were so sear, I went down the stairway I went for a glass [of water], I heard a few footsteps 'Who could it be?' I saw someone hiding behind Christmas tree, "Santa is it you? Have you brought Coal or gifts? If it's gifts, can I choose them? If coal then so why?" Santa looked at me, he smiled then he said, "I've brought you gifts dear, you've been good for this year, you did all your homework, you've made your dad proud, you're caring, you're nice, though sometimes you're not, yet overall you're perfect, you're the best of them all!" And as he left, I saw his beaming watch, the golden one dad had been gifted at March. That night what I dreamed of was perfect, just right, I dreamed of the good deeds I'd done and shall do, And in the end, the sins, they were wiped cleansed and gone.
