The Billow
The billow By Kalyani Rajalingham Day of discord, Day of misfortune, Dismembered by strife’s assertion, Submerged deep within the hollow amidst the billows, Handicapped by daily mistakes, missteps and blunders, And sweet coated through efforts of men of terrible temper, Man and maid realize the theme of discord, Some dwell upon the present system, Curse with bleeding hearts the thriving evil, And like a blessing or a curse, Each stumbles upon the furrows of their path. The wise man fills the ruts of his road, With sticks and stones and puts a sign to warn, The cynic dares not walk such burrowed roads, Until it is mended just right by other’s sweat and dust, The idealist of visionary’s blind ignorance, Walks into unforeseen whirlpools upon all paths, With strong belief of their serene depths, And amidst it all, there exists a few lot Who struggle to surmount billow after billow, Who refuse to harp upon the thousand evils. Sweet friend, some battles cannot be conquered alone, And the very time of life is not the time to frown, Break from the occupations of vice and sin, Swim into the untroubled waters of vitality, Rejoicing the errors surmounted, Dear friend, Wait for it, work for it, One day, truth and wisdom will merge with Father Time, To crown efforts rightly with mighty shine.
