The Lady In the Cage
There's a lady in a cage. There's 4 walls of bars and a solid roof so she can't see the stars. She hears the people and hears the cars and she wonders everyday, what is their life like? Is it better than mine? Or are they hiding pain also ,that is kept deep inside? Tucked in a small box forbidden to rise. She holds back tears because she fears weakness so everyday her cage strengthens, blocking her from all harm. Even the charm of a prince she becomes alarmed. She paces wall to wall, ignores the calls to afraid to stand tall because she might fall. So, everyday I talk to her from outside the wall, she never speaks so I speak it all. Until one day she trusted me with a key to free her from the solitaire confinement of the enclosed room. I opened it up and stood back, hoping to see her soon. She stays hidden in the corner. To her I'm just an unknown foreigner. I reach out my hand. Come on!! You can trust me Freedom is right here beyond me She reached out her hand i hear a sigh of relief and I guided her out into the wind and the sun and told her I will never hurt and I will never run.
