Things I Carry
I've been asked, “What do you carry?” From the perspective of others I’m pretty. Yet I carry insecurity, and it rushes through my body when I walk through the doors of the place that we call school. Every corner I turn and hall I walk down is destined to have stuck-up and arrogant females. So don’t be fooled by their deceiving smiles. I've learned that the hard way, and now I carry shame. My father once told me, “They’re only mean because they’re jealous.”. Funny to say, I think there’s more to it than jealousy. We've all been quick to judge someone based on their looks, actions, race or popularity. Sadly, I was once the girl that no one approved of. I was called ugly, fake, pizza face and a try-hard. Were they really jealous or was it just a natural instinct to disrespect the new girl? After all I do carry forgiveness. Therefore, I've been able to come to an understanding of the reasons for their actions. When I look back to my earlier years I see the lack of responsibility. It showed in my grades, my behavior, and my choices. The only decisions I had made were the decisions to fit in.
