I Wanted To Write
I wanted to write about wind, but my paper blew away. I wanted to write about rain, but it's a bright sunshine day. Thoughts trickle like water from a fountain, I cannot catch the perfect thought to begin. I wanted to write about you, but you didn't want to stay. I wanted to write about the river, but it was all dry I wanted to write about the clouds, but none are in the sky Thoughts coming and going like lovers in my bed Trying to reach deep inside of this empty head I wanted to write about your smile, but you only cry I wanted to write about love, but I feel empty. I wanted to write about lust, but it does nothing for me. Nothing triggers an extreme flavor, There is no taste my tongue wants to savor. I wanted to write about light, but it is darkness I see. I wanted to write about peace, but we are at war I wanted to write about dreams, but you snore Nothing too fancy, nothing to deep Got to get it all out before I sleep I wanted to write about family, but you walked out the door
