What the Mouse Saw
What the mouse saw The elephant and the mouse travelled together From being both young they would look out for each other Especially through the desert storms and other inclement weather Both nights black blanket with diamond stars and a round white saucer on a string tether And mornings pink horizon lifting from the earth’s crust to heat and light whatever your endeavour The mouse fed on grubs and bugs and he scurried quickly leaving no stone unturned watching always for the scorpion or the adder The elephant ate the leaves from tall scrub trees and bushes green but he also had enemies because of the ivory he grew to defend from hunter gatherer These ivory tusks to make ornaments for rich wealthy men who see there are less elephants living in scarcity attracts evil to me another mammal creature We reach an oasis and drink from the mother’s cup then a shot was heard and the elephant went down as the mouse hid under a rock the men came and the elephant cried a tear that dropped on the earth then he died knowing humans will scour the world until there is no picture
