Feeling safe only under a roof of forever stars, At least that is the way they've always seemed to me. Still I guess those scientists are probably right, Stars are mortal too as I've seen more than one wink at me. That same twinkle seen in more than one loved one's eyes, So many of them have shined so brightly in my life's sky. My maybe hundred years has never been taken for granted, What a gift it would be to call a century my sibling. More than a trillion seconds wrapped up in as many breaths, Could I ask for more and if I did I may die in that moment. To have even lived is greatest honor ever bestowed on me, Knighted from first moment I knelt before my Creator. For I'll always fight for each good thing He's placed here, Until that instant I fly to my retirement within eternity.
