Color Reflections
Don’t search for your reflection You know it isn’t there Stop trying to tell me answers When I’m trying so hard not to care Don’t write my motto for me Or sing to me my own damn song I’ll reflect what I wanna see I won’t be who you want me to be Reflections that are empty Seethe back into me I’m sitting in the chair in the corner So that you won’t notice or stare The grass is growing faster outside But it’s getting nowhere The mirror won’t shine back Because there’s no shine inside And my heart has all turned black Don’t tell me what you wanna hear Cuz instead you’ll hear “just fine” This burden is not too light to bear Don’t hush me, I’ll continue my rhyme Rip off your ears before you can hear Tear off your nose to smell Rip out my eyes and see my soul Grab my soul to know I know you don’t care The sorrow that was behind those eyes And all around the shadows of the sun Just say what I don’t wanna hear Till my ears fall off and my hair falls out Paint my face your favorite color Till your favorite colors turns black Don’t search for your reflection In black stained piles of glass I have no mirror image When the image won’t stare back What’s your favorite color, Is is blue, is it black? Maybe I’ll paint your face that color And you won’t hafta smile back
