Early Mourning
I'm walking down this road. I've grown to know since he left me alone Everyone says he had to go, Tree limbs open inviting embrace comfort that had since been erased Two years I've been alone Still I feel his lips against mine his smile is still fresh in mind Two beautiful children were our own Along with them we made a home Cresting the top of the hill I begin to see where it is he resides. I clench the flowers in hand I wish he could hold me now Gathering strength legs carry me down grassy path. Place the flowers in their new home I tell how much I hurt without him, our bed feels empty about cooking far too much for one all of this I tell he is the one who always listened. hair in my face blows behind my ear, without any wind re-assuring hand on shoulder I can not feel. For to me he can't be real, he is gone. Crying out, clutch my hand to chest I've had my conversation so I walk away. With back turned, eyes closed, unable to see He waits for me to lay in the plot beside him. So we can continue the forever he promised to me.
