Sorrows Debt
As I watch the moon die with the dawn my thoughts return to you; sadness hangs like a sweater three sizes too big for its frame. It steals my breath in bitter pain, forgetting for a time the anger connected, long enough to feel the feelings I feign. A silken heart calloused by fiction's friction, the years of intentions that had no way, leaving a cavern too deep to ever go that way again. Your looking glass was tainted by fogged cataracts of love, blinded by absent realities that were clear. I was real, and you, a figment trying to fit my imaginings. And you refused to hear, Oh, my dear, my dear. Now my calloused tears are falling; the gravity of this agony realized my fears. Broken the road lies between, for bridges burned and love that's buried leaving desolate the path that waited upstream. All those wishes lost on make believe. The sun rises with a storm at her heals, another day begins... Morning glory opens her eyes until the memory of the darkness passes again. Then she remembers the storm for which she hides, and all the complications that led to goodbye. Oh halted breath, you'll be alright, It's sorrows debt to sit and cry.
