In Her Memory
Starting on page 3 now Because I can’t find words to rhyme So many memories floating in and out Maybe I’ll get it right this time When I first met you You were the really nice lady next door But then you became my second mom And my movie buddy when it would pour I remember calling after school “Sandy, can I come with you” You saying it wasn’t a problem Just asking what I wanted to do You taught me how to cross-stitch And appreciate a cup of tea Learn the words to Jimmy Buffet Be the young woman I’ve grown to be You were here to see such happy times Like my first set of lingerie I remember my face turning so red And not knowing what to say I remember the rude lady at Nordstrom’s That you put in her place You weren’t afraid to speak your mind Say anything to someone’s face Learning all the words to Sawyer Brown For my first concert at the fair I didn’t have a cowboy hat So you gave me yours to wear I’ll never forget our road trips Playing the alphabet game on the way Singing at the top of our lungs Never running out of things to say You were outside to see me off to prom Put on Peter’s boutonniere You noticed the necklace around my neck And I believe you started to tear You’ve give me so much in life And not just the material things I believe everyone will agree with me On the joy of the memory your smile brings I’ll never forget the times we shared Or the stuff we used to do I love you Sandy Johns And I thank god for knowing you
