Take Away My Pain
I awoke this morning, to a bed so cold and lonely And despite the warning, I'd lost my one and only All that now remains, is the shadow of what was I’m left here in chains, with nothing but my flaws The shadows lengthen, and grow dark by the hour The loneliness they strengthen, trapped within its power Take this pain away, Take away my sorrow, Take this pain away, Let the sunshine tomorrow! Everywhere I look, there are spectres of her form All the things she took, both the light and the warm I try to block her image out, from the recesses of my mind But I’ll always hear her shout, like my head is on rewind Leaving images of herself, to clutter up my brain Like the photos on the shelf, that fill my soul with pain Take this pain away, Take away my sorrow, Take this pain away, Let the sunshine tomorrow! I turn to share a moment, but she is no longer there I’m feeling her absentment, and its fills me with despair My life echoes to her chorus, to the sound of her fair voice I’m stricken with her virus, I don’t really have a choice She has move on from my life, out grown me at last She is no longer my loving wife, that is all in the past Take this pain away, Take away my sorrow, Take this pain away, Let the sunshine tomorrow! All those memories I possess, are poisoned with regret My mind is a bloody mess, I just wish I could forget If I were but a stronger man, I could move past this love I was doomed when it began, that cruel bolt from above Now I see the bitter end, and it’s closing in so fast My heart I can never mend, so this will be my last Take this pain away, Take away my sorrow, Take this pain away, Let the sunshine tomorrow!
