By His Side - Abused Women Contest
She wakens in the morning Through her eyes she cannot see Bruised and battered by her lover Yet she stays to service he He is a senseless bruising beast Who thinks his fist speak the best Would never dream of being gentle Thinks being kind does not impress. In his mind he does no wrong Since the cancer took its hold The gentle man he once was Would never be so hard and cold So she stays by his side Knowing a beating is on the score Prays the lord keeps her alive Until he needs her no more. Could you walk the road she battles Would you step inside her shoes Shaken till her teeth doth rattle Not a single inch that isn’t blue. She loves him he is her master Protector, lover friend Kept her safe when things mattered Vowed to love her to life's end He would be mortified if he knew The pain and torture he sends her way Still she smiles and says “I love you” Til he’s at deaths door she will stay.
