Death of An Innocent
Light came shining through The broken trees around me Before so many were awake While my music played I had spent the months before Fighting war after pointless war Inside my head and with another soul I had no idea where the future would go Then a cold breeze rolled in through my window Chilled my fingers, then my body then the rest of my soul I let my voice echo across the expanse, ever wide Praying this would be the year that I died Light came shining through The heavy snowflakes across the street I kept my hands held high I kissed the night goodbye I spent the rest alone Shibuya 104 was my home I blinked and the year had passed I pulled my twisted self out of the blast I embraced the cold breeze coming through my window Chilled my fingers, then my body then the rest of my soul And I kept on shouting to whomever could hear "What will I find at the end of this year?" Light came shining through The cloudless blue sky above me The ground was too far to see On this mountain high above the trees I had come so far Burning from the morning star The heated air forced it all to bend I wished those days would never end And now a cold breeze rolls in through my window Chills my fingers, then my body then the rest of my soul And even to this day, I'll shout as loud as I can Saying "Did those days serve to make me a man?"
