A Reflection
Looking at me there are many things that you may see, You could see me as selfish, vicious and uncaring that’s not the real me, Like a reflection I have many sides that are left unseen, At heart I know I’m weak, vulnerable, misunderstood and over keen, To impress those I desire I ensure that from them I hide this side, As I know from experience if you let your guard slip your hearts left open wide, Then you find yourself feeling pain and grieve because you’ve been let down, And start to cry tears of doubt and regret walking round feeling like loves clown. Therefore I remain a reflection what you see is the opposite of what you get, To think that you know what I want and me is never a safe bet, Full of surprises, always holding something back so the truth is hidden, As to allow anyone close enough to see the true me I have forbidden. This is the reflection that makes me different from any other, Ensuring my talents and desires are always kept undercover, Always afraid of what the world will think of the real me, Knowing that I’m different and this is how it has to be.
