Grandparents, I Miss You
Gently leaning cat tails whispering their secrets so frail. Penetrating smell of mint leaves touched the warmth of a summer breeze. The tiny babbling brook who had so much to say providing simple beauty for me to play. Fresh picked rhubarb kissing innocent lips, lemons and sugar force smiles with excited sips. Before the sun wakes so much to do, following, aspiring, wanting to be just like you. Big red barn, straw hangs in the air, tending to all the stalls with great care. Manual labor forces water up from a well then gracefully down the clumsy trough it fell. On the TV after a hard day Hee Haw, back then it was the funniest show I ever saw. Bedtime now, sleep will not find my eyes, for tomorrow, today's pleasure is the prize. Looming, Loving and giving was he. Simple, sweet and kind was she. On that farm with the big red barn they will always be, and forever in my heart the memories they gave to me.
