Running
At first she thinks it's all going to be great. She goes in with an open mind and an open heart. As the relationships progress she realizes that she is opening herself up and that means she is able to be hurt. Immediately she closes back up. The walls go up even higher than before. What is it she is so afraid to show? Is it the insecurities, the pain, the imperfections? What is it that causes her to be guarded? Maybe it's the fact that the one male in her life who was always supposed to be there, never let her down betrayed her and left her questioning her own abilities and purpose in life. Maybe it's the fact that she's afraid if people see what's being hidden it will change their perception of her. She doesn't want to come off as weak and hurting, she wants to come off and strong and having it all together. The mask goes on and everything is great until people try and press in too far and then she runs with everything she has in her. She runs until she thinks she has run past the glances that look past the outer shell and into the deepest parts of her heart. When she reaches that place she feels relieved for she thinks she has accomplished something, but then as she really thinks about it she realizes she has run to a place of isolation. A place where she doesn't risk being hurt, yet a place where she has reached desperation. Are the walls to high to escape, are the too thick to be broken? Probably not. But is she willing to open them up? Or will she continue to push everyone out?
