An Angel In Your Eyes
It was a typical day, in late December. The sun was shining, as a burning ember. The hustle and bustle of Christmas cheer. To all the chaos, I chose to adhere! Just as many of those days before. I hit it running, with chores galore! The hospital was to be my first stop. A small gift for you, I found in the shop. To your room, I eagerly went. A moment with you, time I spent. It wasn’t like the previous days. It seemed as though, you were in a haze! The doves were prancing, on the window sill. We watched for a second, as time stood still! I cherish those minutes, when I combed your hair. And rubbing your feet, and our time in prayer! Could I have known, what was soon to come? Why didn’t I see, was I that dumb? With limited time, and many things to do: I gently kissed your head, and blew right through! I should have realized- yes, I should have known. That you were preparing, for your journey home! I remember well, that day your last breath was drawn. It’s been nearly nine years, since you have been gone! If I could go back and change that day: With you mom, I would definitely stay! I would softly whisper in your ear. And I would make it very clear! The time we shared, was not a waste. You gave me life, and I embraced! Today is your birthday and dad is here. And to your memory we do endear! You left a legacy, your sweet love. and of it we do speak thereof! The day you left took me by surprise, You are now, an angel in my eyes!
