Under the Sky
By Marites Avisado-Responte Under the Sky One afternoon, I lie down on the grass I come face to face with the blue sky Her face is clear, except when bullet jet flies Leaving a streak long white cloud trails Over her genuine and perfect smiles She never broods when clouds roll in and pass by Nor be threatened when thunders arise Though she was ravaged by storm last night She maintains her blueness, today, with might I think she enjoys what she sees down Babies on stroll, kids-their kites have flown Teens cheer their teams as baseball games are on And colored tents abound, for parties and celebration I wonder how she feels, happy faces color her day Does she laugh and giggle in her secret way Or send a message to the Almighty, not to rain today So, not to spoil when His creatures pray and play When the sun says goodbye, she never sighs For her world is colored with red and orange fires She is grateful when this moment transpires Everyone looks up in awe and could only admire The sun sets over the horizon- her world is in total darkness The moons emerges and accompanies her loneliness Her eyes have shone, the city lights are twinkling Ablaze with excitement, she is dancing With the skylight, fanning and chasing Now another day ends I cross my fingers that tomorrow will take its trend Whether the sky is gray or blue I will always remember that it is not tainted with blues..
