Lost At Sea
Lost at Sea By Kevin Robey May 1, 2013 The ice cold water lapped across his weary face He opened his eyes and surveyed the fateful scene How did he fail, and find himself in this place? His memory recalled what couldn't be foreseen His body surrendered heat to the vengeful sea Panicked as his lungs were slowed to a rest Searching for what he was always supposed to be There was no defeating the demons he addressed In a moment he realized his past had been erased No false pretenses, all that was left was the truth Following the lines of his veins to a heart defaced Knowing this is a gift often wasted on the youth The sounds of his bittersweet symphony around The honest life was his but his lungs were impaled By the icy blue sea where he would surely drown He focused of the music he made as he exhaled He knew deep down the truth he would never see The air was warm, and his aching lungs were full The crashing waves of the suffocating sea Projections of the chaos that engulfed his soul He closed his eyes, his broken bones collapsed On the hot desert ground from the pits of hell Ice melting off his shoulders as time elapsed Ringing in his ears was the sound of a death knell Everywhere a scene on this repetitive screen As he transitioned from one hell into another The faces were ghosts from violent dreams His lungs on fire from ashes of the others He closed his eyes in desperation and despair To escape from this tortured reality he found He opened his eyes to face his demons again The mirror exposed the very reason he drowned
