Winds of Change
Some can only process hatred Tell them not about love Nor confide in them about beauty Nor any positive thoughts For they would sooner condemn Without mercy than let reason Invade their nasty little universes Take Leila for instance who Without a second thought Handed over her lover (Of many a season, I may say) To his erstwhile sworn enemy But who unbeknown to her Had stumbled upon the truth And was ready to forgive Past and present wrongs Emanating as this one did From a rogue regime of earlier days ‘Your destiny cannot be built With the blood of the oppressed' They had firmly asserted ‘No matter what others may say The winds of change Will not cease to blow.' O it would have been different Had the flame of revenge Not been doused by a greater good. It would have been bad enough But would she have cared? She would have loved to see him Roast over a slow smoky fire Like slow burning tyres! She remembered with nostalgia The dark ugly days of neck-lacing Poor imbecile that I love!
