Holding On
Nothing’s lost when I come unprepared Even when I’m turning into someone else Everything I have is just my eyes Deluding love, grand illusions of my lie The words I hold can never work When I can see through my distant head The things I speak have no effect When I’m not me, and I can’t detect The nothing I will still deny The something inside that wants it to die The everything that is my net Will disappear when the sun has set It’s every time I look inside So far away; the things that hide It’s the only dream that fades from me The forgotten things that I still see It’s the only way that I’m alive Remembering loss and when I died It’s every place that calls my name The things around me screaming blame It’s the only reason I survive Fighting for what’s left despite the lies It’s one more distance I crawl towards And as I gather myself I’ll find the door
