Remembering When
I remember when... I was this little girl, laughing the day away, never fearing the world, never thinking it would all go away. I remember when... I would play with my brothers, smile at everyone in sight, run up to my mother, and never lose a fight. I remember when... I was known for my high spirits, for never frowning or being down, it was then I met the culprit, who turned my life around. I remember when... I cried so much that night, thinking I was nothing, I wanted everyone out of my sight, I felt like quitting. I remember when... after that day, I faked a smile, I cracked a few laughs, not one was real. Everyone thought I was fine all the while. Not one knowing I needed to be healed. I remember when... I met some real friends, these people helped me get better. They were by my side till the end, not one left me for another. I remember when... I got better and smiled a real smile, when I laughed a real laugh, I would always run the miles, hoping it would always last.
