Another Shot of Whiskey
A song I hadn't heard, played on the radio. It spoke of a girl As the words rolled slow. I turned up the volume as the lyrics filled my car. Another guy wallowing as he sat alone at the bar. Drinking one to many, wishing she was there. He tried to play it cool, pretending not to care. He sized up the crowd looking for a girl who's frisky. But tonight his only friend, will be another shot of whiskey. Girls stop by and try to talk. They don't stand a chance. He doesn't hold his breath, nor even give them a glance. None of these girls will compare, to the one he let get away. The one he'd fix everything for, if he were given another day. So many girls from his past, but none compared to her. Just going through the motions, made their relationship a blur. She begged him to listen to the things she needed. "Please just show me you care!" At times she even pleaded. He made the fateful mistake, to assume she'd stick around. Before he knew it she was gone, without even making a sound. His world came crashing down. He didn't know what to do. He had no one else to blame. He needed to get a clue. She was everything to him. She always gave her all. He always just sat there, and watched her slowly fall. Into the arms of another guy, one who treated her well. All he could do was sit there, in his own personal hell. "Another shot of whiskey please." To the bartender he asks. "You think she'll ever love me again? Man I just need her back." The bartender simply replied "I know how you feel alright? Here, take another shot, and forget her for tonight.."
