Memories of Mama
Memories of Mama When we were young, we sat around Mama’s kitchen, We were waiting for her biscuits made from scratch. We gobbled them down in just moments, We could hardly wait for her next batch. Mama was the best cook in the world, No one ever turned down her food. To eat her cooking was pure pleasure, It had a way of changing your bad mood. On my Saturday Mama would take me to town, All the other kids in our family want to go. You could hear Mama’s loud, distinct voice, When she told them she meant NO! The time has come for Mama to rest, Now we take her out for eats. No way the restaurant food can compare, To sitting down with Mama’s treats. She usually made me *******he milk, So the family would have butter. When my arms became so tired, I knew a sound I better not utter. Mama has gone on to be with the Lord, There is no way to tell you how much she’s missed, We sat in the room with her that day, I leaned over, with love in my heart, and gave her a big kiss. ©2008 Lynn B.
