A Time In Vietnam
I Would like to Have Someone, Tell Me it Will Be Okay, Just Take it Slow and Easy, And Try to Get Through Each Day. Nightmares and Night-sweats Haunt Me, And Invade Me While I Sleep. Flash Backs and Deep Dark Depression Doesn’t Help Find Answers I Seek. I Try Not to Think Too Much, Because Things Come Creeping In. Dear God! How Do I Make it Stop? Is it Never Going to End? I Saw a Cut on a Child’s Hand, And My Mind Went Reeling Away... Back to a Time in Vietnam, I Can Still See Clearly Today, It Was a Day like Any Other, That You Would Find in Vietnam, The Attack Was Quick and Deadly. When I Came To, I Had Lost John. One Minute He Is Laughing and Joking, The Next, He No Longer Exists. Yes, I Can See it Very Clearly, As They Add John’s Name to the List. Finally the Fog Clears Away, Then Clarity Comes to Call, But Sometimes I Wonder Who Is Better Off.... Me...or Those Named on the Wall. Connie Moore July 23. 2000
