You, the Mourner
Well is it you, the mourner Balled up in the pathetic corner Dried tears upon your face With no one to share an embrace Nobody gives you pity You're just a beggar in the city Your teeth are old an rotten Your humanity, to them, forgotten But to me, my friend, I'm sad To see a life that turned so bad The smile that you once wore Cannot be bought at any store The money you try to borrow Cannot release you from this sorrow But only relieve you from the pain But not relieve you from the rain Where is the home you had? Could it really have been that bad?  I know not whether to give you food Or money, lest I seem shrewd You in the corner, come into the light Walk aways with me tonight There's a building that you must see That can bring peace to you, to me White marble, an angel above Can you not feel your father's love? I know it may seem hard right now But wipe the sweat from upon your brow And smile, you aren't alone With me, and with God, you're home
