I Don'T Daydream
“I Don’t” Daydream The home that they lived in She called a prison Discarding her dreams For his self-esteem She was a prize To show off to the guys And he bragged and he boasted While she stayed devoted She bore his children Ignored the women That he kept on the side To nourish his pride Her friends always told her That she deserved better And should think about leaving To stop all of her grieving But she took a vow That no matter how Her marriage might hurt She would make it work She knew in her heart That she could not depart Because of his temper If she left he would kill her Like he almost did In front of the kids The night that he choked her The night that he broke her Now she had a plan To get rid of this man Without a divorce Or going through courts Even though she still loved him She decided to drug him And when he collapsed She drew him a bath Then held him down And watched him drown… …”Miss are you okay.” She awoke from the dream Quickly took off the ring Then faced the pews And delivered bad news She shook head, and told them “I won’t” Instead of saying “I do” she said “I don’t” She flipped off the groom Then ran out the room And got away clean Forever a queen
