The Package
I was missing today you with a tear in my eye Thinking of our life it was making me cry Needing you close so I thought only of you Knowing how much I meant and you loved me too I sat on the couch just feeling alone Guess I am scared of the unknown The miles separate us for only a short time I’m capturing my feelings in this short rhyme The doorbell rang it was a package for me From a soldier I love sent from overseas Addressed to my love whom I love and adore Tired of fighting in an unwinable war The package was a sign sent from God above He hadn’t forgotten me and shown me his love God knew of my feelings as busy as he Took time to reach out just to help me A few weeks earlier came a knock at my door A man dressed real nice saying you died in the war So lonely and missing my friend and my soul mate The package was lost and came a month too late You knew I needed you on this loneliest of days So you found my package as I sat down to pray Thank you for loving me and sacrificing your all I’ll visit you often at your name on the wall
