A Friend In the End
Happiness, we believe is forever; True love, will keep it together. A person you can always call upon; When times get tough, and you are ready to move on. But love always seems to break your heart; Brings two people close, then tears them apart. A fairytale that never comes true; Feelings lost, like my love for you. I can't understand why I am letting you go; Don't walk away yet, there are reasons you should know. Love at first sight, you always made me smile; Now, faded laughter, I haven't seen for awhile. My first love, I will always care; All the rough times conquered, all the moments shared. My gut feeling, this is not meant to be; Giving myself to you, like you never did for me. Life will amaze you, take you by surprise; I realize that now, so we have to say goodbye. Moving on, the world changing now; Wanting to tell you, but not knowing how. This feeling I have, I can't explain why; Time to spread my wings and learn how to fly. Please remember, the love I use to show; Loving you enough, knowing I must let go. Maybe years from now we will be together again; Living in this moment, you remain as my friend. Catching me gently, when I finally fall; In the end knowing, I am happy after all.
