You Should Not Say You Do Not Care
Used to be the free way, was a way for you to get away, in the free way you wanted to each day that your get away seemed farther and farther away. You shouldn’t sway, yet you wouldn’t stay and you would not say you care. You dared not say you care Twenty four hours down the line you’re still cuttin’ hair in that Walmart chair whistlin’ through your teeth at Vanity Fair while you peek over a shoulder. Girl, you’re just getting older. You shouldn’t sway, and you shouldn’t say that you will not stay and you will not care I’m right here and I’m in your hair I’m getting bolder. Seems to me that the face you see in the mirror each day, has a way to say, fate takes a strange way to play the trick that makes you see the light of day. come on, let’s do it over. That roll in the clover didn’t last long enough. I’m sorry I left you when the goin’ was tough and the tough got rougher than rough. You shouldn’t sway, yet you wanted to stay and you would not say you did not care - - Honey, I promise I will always be there. Just come out from behind that chair and let’s go somewhere where you want to stay and you say you care …. You take me there to the place where we say “I love you”.
