I Was the First Civilization
I was the first civilization and had the advantage then Kinship and bonds distilled in right revelation of deity Native wisdom lacked neither spirtual love nor piety Ours was the golden not cast in element trite as gold Winnowed of the material asp, nothing here was sold Interrupting the land's communication, I bared, descend Looted when imitated first, and the image substituted me Leaving me invisible as the pariah new men and history Ours was nothing again, our half memory razed by fire Fooling themselves they still could not assimilate desire Contesting who they became among themselves, I am Only saved because the shadow needs still the original Loop this, for still inexplicably hangs now the true lamb Offered, and yet still the assimilation is made marginal New World visions of power replacing him, but first we Initial civilizers must be removed for that dream to endure Angst with this Africa demonized becomes invisible and poor Listening echoes of mutilates preserved in brine of sea Haggling still the sea peoples mix iron into holy clay A man must know his master's will to come to sovereign day Therapy-less we in the mirror seek unconsolably to forgive Europe with its stolen cross reflecting the dark derisive
